Naamkaran - Give a Divine Name to the Infant

When we are born, we are given a name. Isn't it better to name the baby after a deity or goddess since we are all human? The naamkaran in Noida ritual is an age-old custom among Hindu households. After the birth of jatakarma, this is the next step. As soon as the mother and infant have slept for a few weeks, the naming ceremony is place.

If so many gods and goddesses exist in the Indian pantheon, how can you choose a name for them all? I don't choose the name at random. The priest, who is well-versed in complex mathematical calculations relating the birth to the location of the stars and planets, is called upon to assist.

The name has a strong connection to sound waves, which makes it very significant. As a kid grows, he or she connects with his or her name, and society does the same. When it comes to baby names, many in the West are looking online for help before deciding on one. Symbolic representations of different feelings and moods may be found in the many deities. The priest will select the right sound to connect the child's planetary placements to the child's former life impressions. As a general rule, the priest provides the initial syllable of the name, such as "U," "B," or "A."

In addition to religious and social considerations, the Naamkaranceremony in Noida also has legal ramifications. This is the first time a kid is formally welcomed into the family. After consulting with the ancestors, a priest makes a final decision. Invoking the gods, the elements, and even ancestors' ghosts are all part of the ritual. It connects us to our ancestors, who made us what we are today if it weren't for their efforts in the past. At a temple, or at someone's house, the ritual takes place. Either the father or the maternal uncle is responsible for the actual naming of the child. Maternal uncles have a special place in Hindu culture since they are seen as the second in line to the father and may thus speak for the mother in the event of a crisis.

In the Vedas, there are three general rules for naamkaran in Noida. If possible, choose a name that corresponds to the baby's nakshatra (star), month, and family deity. Honey is applied to the baby's lips after he or she is named. In addition, a horoscope is produced for the family deity, and it is put there. A fabric stuffed with betel leaves and almonds, turmeric flakes, lentils, coins, and grains of rice may be used in certain parts of the country to put the infant. The newborn is put on this fabric and tenderly rocked by the paternal aunts.

People believe that by uttering God's name, whether consciously or unconsciously, they are protected from eternal damnation, which is why naming ceremonies are performed. Narayana was the favourite son of a terrible father who had lived a miserable life. His last words were: "Narayana! Narayana!" before he passed away. This rendered the death angels unable to transport the guy to either hell or narak. He was rescued by the name!
